Underwriter

Located in the heart of San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf, Ophthalmic Mutual Insurance Company (OMIC) is the premier provider of professional liability insurance for ophthalmologists in the United States.

OMIC is currently seeking an Underwriter for this fast-paced, high-volume work environment. A minimum of 3 years professional liability experience as an Underwriter is required. Medical malpractice experience is preferred.

Responsibilities include:
• Timely response to rating and coverage inquiries from policyholders
• Evaluation and processing of new applications and renewals
• Preparation of policy documents including declarations and endorsements
• Identification of marginal risks and preparation of files for additional review
• Providing exceptional customer service to current and prospective insured
• Occasional travel required to attend state, regional and/or national meetings

Position requires strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to prioritize workload and to multitask, along with PC proficiency. Familiarity with paperless (ImageRight) documentation system a plus. Must be organized, analytical and detail oriented.
