In a new series, OMIC invites policyholders to tell their stories about what OMIC means to them. We strive to be a great service of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, totally independent, but with a purpose much larger than other malpractice insurance companies. The Risk Management Lifeline by Ellen Adams
In 2002, I was hired as the Compliance Officer for Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston. With the ink barely dry on my MBA and over 16 years experience as an ophthalmic technician/scrub assistant, I felt ready to handle HIPAA, coding, and OSHA issues. After all, that is what a compliance officer does, right?
