Will OMIC reimburse me for lost wages as a result of court appearances?

Yes. If, at OMIC’s request, you attend a court proceeding, trial, mediation, or arbitration involving a covered claim, OMIC will reimburse you for your loss of earnings upon your request. This supplementary payment is subject to a maximum of $500 per day of attendance (i.e., attendance of more than three hours) and $250 per half-day (i.e., three hours or fewer). Attendance at your own deposition or the deposition of others is not a court proceeding and does not qualify for these supplementary payments.

Six reasons OMIC is the best choice for ophthalmologists in America.

Consistent return of premium.

Publicly-traded insurance companies exist to make profits for shareholders while physician-owned carriers often return profits to their policyholders. Don’t underestimate this benefit; it can add up to tens of thousands of dollars over the course of your career. OMIC has one of the most generous dividend programs for ophthalmologists and has returned more than $90 Million to our members through dividends.
