Will OMIC cover me for the intravitreal injection of kenalog?

Yes. Although the use of Kenalog has been FDA approved only for intramuscular administration, intra-articular administration, and administration within a tendon sheath, this steroid is routinely used on an off-label basis by ophthalmologists. Provided that the indication of the injection (whether subconjunctivally, subTenon, into the lid, or intravitreally) is appropriate and the physician is properly trained and experienced, OMIC will extend coverage for the insured’s use of Kenalog.

Six reasons OMIC is the best choice for ophthalmologists in America.

Consistent return of premium.

Publicly-traded insurance companies exist to make profits for shareholders while physician-owned carriers often return profits to their policyholders. Don’t underestimate this benefit; it can add up to tens of thousands of dollars over the course of your career. OMIC has one of the most generous dividend programs for ophthalmologists and has returned more than $90 Million to our members through dividends.
