Topic: Prevent Falls in the Ophthalmic Office (Course #06SA5)

Speaker: Anne M. Menke, RN, PhD, OMIC Risk Manager

Description: Falls are the leading cause of fatal and non-fatal injuries for people over 65 years of age, according to the CDC. When they happen in physician offices and ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs), some patients and their families assume that physicians and staff members should have predicted and prevented the falls, and sue for malpractice. This talk will present a study of malpractice claims filed by patients who were injured while receiving ophthalmic care.

Six reasons OMIC is the best choice for ophthalmologists in America.

Consistent return of premium.

Publicly-traded insurance companies exist to make profits for shareholders while physician-owned carriers often return profits to their policyholders. Don’t underestimate this benefit; it can add up to tens of thousands of dollars over the course of your career. OMIC has one of the most generous dividend programs for ophthalmologists and has returned more than $90 Million to our members through dividends.
