Featured speaker: Paul Weber, JD, vice-president of risk management at OMIC
Objectives for the physician talk:
- Explain how providing a refund to a patient is not an admission of liability and can be a compassionate gesture on the part of the ophthalmologist
- Identify steps to minimize establishing a patient-physician relationship when providing an informal curbside consult to a colleague
- Describe the potential professional liability risks of “speaking off the record” with an attorney
