Subspecialty Society Partners

OMIC has an educational alliance with the following subspecialty ophthalmic societies. Visit the page for your society below for more information.

American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (AAPOS) – Since 1996
American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) – Since 1998
The Retina Society – Since 2013
Vit-Buckle Society – Since 2015

OMIC has issued more than $17 Million in special premium credits through alliances with ophthalmic societies, representing 45 states and 8 subspecialties. Here is how it works:

OMIC policyholders who are members of ophthalmic societies with an OMIC educational alliance earn a 10% risk management discount (currently averaging more then $1,000) when they complete an approved OMIC risk management event. For some societies, an approved event is any OMIC risk management activity, including live seminars, audio conferences or webinars, or online courses. Certain societies require attendance at a live OMIC-society event, which is usually conducted during the annual meeting of the society.

Six reasons OMIC is the best choice for ophthalmologists in America.

Consistent return of premium.

Publicly-traded insurance companies exist to make profits for shareholders while physician-owned carriers often return profits to their policyholders. Don’t underestimate this benefit; it can add up to tens of thousands of dollars over the course of your career. OMIC has one of the most generous dividend programs for ophthalmologists and has returned more than $90 Million to our members through dividends.
