SARS-CoV-2 Testing

December 7, 2020

Dear OMIC Insureds:

This month’s Bulletin introduces new risk management resources regarding SARS-CoV-2 testing of patients and staff.

If you elect to conduct such testing in your practice, you may find these FAQ documents and consent forms helpful: https://www.omic.com/covid-test-risk-management-recommendations/.

As always, OMIC policyholders are not required to implement risk management recommendations. Rather, physicians should use their professional judgment in determining the applicability of a given recommendation to their particular patients and practice situation.

Many policyholders have inquired if they are covered for offering SARS-CoV-2 testing. A discussion of this and related questions can be found on our website: https://www.omic.com/covid-19-coverage-information/. Questions about coverage should be directed to Underwriting at 1-800-562-6642, ext. 639, or omic@omic.com.

If you have questions about the risk management resources, contact us for confidential risk management advice by emailing us at riskmanagement@omic.com.

Best wishes for a healthy and happy holiday season.

Linda D. Harrison, PhD
Director, OMIC Risk Management

Six reasons OMIC is the best choice for ophthalmologists in America.

Best at defending claims.

An ophthalmologist pays nearly half a million dollars in premiums over the course of a career. Premium paid is directly related to a carrier’s claims experience. OMIC has a higher win rate taking tough cases to trial, full consent to settle (no hammer) clause, and access to the best experts. OMIC pays 25% less per claim than other carriers.
