Policyholder Services

Are leased employees covered under my policy?

Yes. OMIC’s standard policy automatically extends defense and indemnity coverage to any non-physician employee of an ophthalmologist or professional entity insured by OMIC (excluding employed or contracted nurse anesthetists or optometrists unless specifically named as an insured). Coverage is limited to claims arising from professional services performed within the authorized scope of his or her employment, training, and licensure. Not only does this coverage apply to ancillary personnel directly employed by the insured, but also it applies to leased employees working under the insured’s direction and control. In addition, coverage extends to the employer for vicarious liability exposures arising from such employment.

Six reasons OMIC is the best choice for ophthalmologists in America.

Best at defending claims.

An ophthalmologist pays nearly half a million dollars in premiums over the course of a career. Premium paid is directly related to a carrier’s claims experience. OMIC has a higher win rate taking tough cases to trial, full consent to settle (no hammer) clause, and access to the best experts. OMIC pays 25% less per claim than other carriers. As a result, OMIC has consistently maintained lower base rates than multispecialty carriers in the U.S.
